In Bihar, the Sub-Divisional Police Officer (SDPO) of Kishanganj, Gautam Kumar, has been relieved of his duties due to corruption allegations. He has been asked to report to the Police Headquarters and is currently on standby for reassignment. The police headquarters has temporarily assigned the responsibilities of the SDPO of Kishanganj Sadar-2 to another officer.

The decision follows raids conducted by the Economic Offences Unit at six locations associated with Gautam Kumar. Assets valued at several crores, linked to him, his wife, mother-in-law, and a female associate, were discovered during the operation. Initial estimates suggest that the officer may have amassed assets worth close to Rs 80 crore during his service.

Gautam Kumar, who began his career as a Sub-Inspector in 1994 and rose to the rank of Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP), has worked extensively in Araria, Kishanganj, and Purnea. The extensive actions taken by the Economic Offences Unit have caused a stir within the police department. Authorities have hinted at ongoing investigations and potential further actions based on the probe’s outcomes.
