The Bihar Police Headquarters disclosed information regarding the law-and-order situation during protests by student organizations and political party student wings on July 25. A total of 694 individuals were detained during the demonstrations, with a significant number being students and minors. Out of those detained, 339 minors and students were released after verification, while 355 individuals involved in violent incidents were presented before the court as per legal procedures.
Officials mentioned that investigations are ongoing into the actions of those presented before the court, with further legal steps to be taken based on the outcomes. The report highlighted that 91 police officers and personnel sustained injuries in incidents like stone-pelting, attacks on police, and vandalism. Notably, senior police officials, including Superintendents of Police and Station House Officers, were among those injured.
The Police Headquarters reported damage to 14 government vehicles and the burning of one government vehicle during the protests. Additionally, 13 civilians were injured in various incidents across the state. The violence in Saran district was particularly severe, with administrative officers facing serious injuries. The Block Development Officer of Sadar Block lost vision in one eye due to an attack and is receiving treatment in Patna, while the BDO of Revelganj Block underwent surgery for a severe head injury and remains under medical care.
The Bihar Police emphasized the gravity of violent incidents and assured that those responsible are being identified through evidence for legal action. Measures are being implemented to ensure law and order is maintained in the state, with a focus on addressing violence, property damage, and attacks on officials during protests.
