In a significant move to improve Bihar Police’s effectiveness, Director General of Police (DGP) Vinay Kumar has approved the reorganization of police zones across the state. The restructuring aims to bolster crime control, enhance law and order monitoring, and expedite the resolution of pending cases. This initiative, marked by formal orders from the police headquarters, signifies a notable reform in Bihar’s policing and security setup.
The primary goal of this restructuring is to streamline investigations, reduce delays, and minimize errors. DGP Vinay Kumar emphasized that the new system will ensure clear accountability among police officers, leading to high-quality investigations and prompt justice delivery for citizens. The revised police zone structure is designed to boost operational efficiency and facilitate the monitoring of complex and sensitive cases, particularly those involving serious crimes.
To implement the plan, a high-level meeting was conducted on December 31, where the DGP and senior police officers devised a detailed framework for deploying police inspectors and other personnel. The upcoming days are expected to witness extensive reshuffling and fresh appointments within the police department as part of the reorganization efforts. These changes aim to make the force more agile and aligned with the demands at the grassroots level.
While acknowledging a decline in crime incidents in the state, DGP Kumar highlighted the ongoing need for improvement. He stressed that achieving a complete improvement scenario would entail the absence of heinous crimes like murder in Bihar. Additionally, the DGP mentioned significant progress in combating Left Wing Extremism, noting a substantial reduction in Naxal activities in the state.
Kumar also mentioned the surrender of three Naxal operatives to the Bihar Police, along with their weapons, after four years of inactivity in Naxal-related activities. The state government has initiated a comprehensive rehabilitation plan for surrendered Naxals and their families, offering employment opportunities and welfare projects in Naxal-affected regions to facilitate their integration into mainstream development efforts. The police zone reorganization is anticipated to play a pivotal role in fortifying law enforcement, boosting public trust, and fostering sustainable peace and progress in Bihar.
