The Bihar Police has suspended four personnel immediately due to alleged negligence in the Bunty Yadav murder case in Patna. This action was taken by Patna’s Superintendent of Police, Central, Mamta Kalyani, following a departmental inquiry.
The suspended individuals include Assistant Sub-Inspectors Praveen Kumar Pankaj, Avadhesh Kumar, and Veer Bahadur Singh, along with Home Guard Sudarshan Prasad. They will be attached to the New Police Lines, Patna during their suspension and have been instructed to provide written explanations within three days.
These personnel were part of the Dial-112 emergency response team and a patrolling unit located just 100 meters from where Bunty Yadav was allegedly abducted on July 6. Despite their proximity, they failed to notice the incident or intervene promptly, leading to disciplinary action by the department.
Police reported that Bunty Yadav was abducted by a group of criminals from the Patna Junction area on July 6. CCTV footage of the incident emerged later, and despite appeals from family members, his body was discovered nearly five days after the abduction.
The incident has sparked criticism regarding the police’s initial response, the effectiveness of patrolling, and the alleged inaction during the abduction. Minister Ram Kripal Yadav and Purnea MP Rajesh Ranjan, also known as Pappu Yadav, separately met the victim’s family, demanding strict action against those responsible for the murder.
