After nearly two years of examinations, protests, and debates, the Bihar Public Service Commission (BPSC) has announced the final results of the 70th Combined Competitive Examination. A total of 2,027 candidates have been chosen for prestigious administrative roles in Bihar. The successful candidates will fill key positions in the state administration, including Sub-Divisional Magistrate (SDM), Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP), State Tax Officer, Tax Superintendent, and other administrative services.
With the release of the final results, the appointment process will commence once recommendations are forwarded to the relevant departments. BPSC Chairman Ravi Manubhai Parmar hailed the 70th Combined Competitive Examination as one of the largest recruitment drives in the commission’s history. He clarified that investigations found no evidence of a paper leak, although attempts were made to disrupt the recruitment process.
The preliminary examination took place at 912 centers across Bihar after several revisions to the schedule. Initially planned for September 30 and November 17, 2024, the examination eventually occurred on December 13, 2024, in a single shift. Prior to the exam, numerous candidates opposed the proposed normalization system, leading to a significant protest outside the BPSC office in Patna on December 6, 2024.
During the preliminary examination at the Bapu Examination Centre in Patna on December 13, 2024, candidates alleged irregularities and protested, resulting in the cancellation of the exam at that specific center. Despite this, students demanded the cancellation of the entire state examination, prolonging the recruitment process’s scrutiny for months. The controversy surrounding the 70th BPSC examination also attracted political attention, with figures like Prashant Kishor and Rahul Gandhi expressing support for the protesting candidates.
