The Vigilance Department of Bihar intensified its anti-corruption efforts by apprehending a sub-inspector at Akbarpur police station in Nawada district for accepting a bribe of Rs 25,000. The arrest occurred during a meticulously planned trap operation. The complaint leading to the arrest was filed by Vikas Kumar from Warisaliganj, Nawada, alleging that Sub-Inspector Pramod Kumar sought money to resolve a case.
The Vigilance Department, after verifying the complaint’s authenticity, formed a special team headed by DSP Gautam Krishna. This team set up a trap in Nawada to capture the accused. Sub-Inspector Pramod Kumar was caught red-handed as he accepted the bribe from the complainant. Following the arrest, the sub-inspector was taken to Patna for further legal proceedings before the Vigilance Special Court.
The state government’s firm stance against corruption was reinforced by this arrest. Vigilance officials emphasized that such stringent actions will persist against any official misusing their authority for personal gain. Another incident on December 23, 2025, involved the arrest of Sub-Inspector Kanhaiya Kumar Singh in Siwan district for accepting a bribe of Rs 40,000. Singh, stationed at Siswan police station, was implicated in a land dispute case following a fight between two parties on December 18. Allegedly, Singh demanded the bribe from Sunil Kumar to alter the case diary, removing Sunil’s sister’s name.
