Bihar’s Bhagalpur Police have achieved significant success in their crackdown on crime, making two key breakthroughs. The Cyber Police Station dismantled a cyber fraud gang that targeted farmers by exploiting the Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi Yojana. Two individuals, Rajkumar Das and Deepak Sharma, were apprehended, with seized items including laptops, mobile phones, and bank-related documents. Additionally, Pawan Kumar Sharma, the prime suspect in the Ghogha Bazaar armed robbery case, was captured in Deoghar district, Jharkhand.
These actions, conducted under the guidance of the Senior Superintendent of Police, have instilled fear among criminals in the region. The cyber fraud gang, which operated by creating fake bank accounts to siphon off farmers’ funds, was exposed following a complaint lodged in February 2026. The arrests were made after thorough investigations and raids, with further inquiries ongoing to uncover the entire network of fraudulent activities. In a separate development, the arrest of Pawan Kumar Sharma marks the conclusion of the Ghogha Bazaar robbery case, with all suspects now in custody.
Bhagalpur Police emphasized their unwavering stance against cybercrime and organized criminal activities. The successful operations were a result of collaborative efforts involving officers from the Cyber Police Station, DIU, and Ghogha Police Station. The arrests serve as a warning to those engaging in illegal activities, underscoring the authorities’ commitment to maintaining law and order in the district.
