Bihar’s Vigilance Investigation Bureau (VIB) took action in Patna district by apprehending a revenue employee, Rana Ranvijay Gopal, and his alleged middleman, Guddu Kumar, in a bribery trap. Gopal was caught accepting Rs 35,000, while Kumar was nabbed receiving Rs 10,000 during the operation at Mainpuranda Panchayat Bhawan.
The arrests stemmed from a complaint by Praveen Kumar Suman regarding demands for money in exchange for preparing an official report on alleged illegal encroachments near his property. Following a confidential verification, the Vigilance Bureau registered an FIR on June 3, 2026, and formed a special trap team under Bihar Deputy Superintendent of Police Rishita Sneh.
The trap was set at the Panchayat Bhawan, leading to the immediate arrest of the accused after the marked currency exchange. The suspects are expected to appear before the Special Vigilance Court in Patna after questioning. These arrests are part of the Bureau’s recent anti-corruption efforts, with eight individuals detained in bribery cases over the past four days.
