The Biju Janata Dal (BJD) criticized the state government for an alleged assault on a female Block Development Officer (BDO) by a local BJP leader and his followers in Rajnagar, Kendrapara district. The BJD delegation met the Odisha DGP, Y B Khurania, seeking the immediate filing of an FIR and the arrest of all involved. The party claimed that CCTV footage showed BJP workers, led by Lalit Kumar Behera, entering the BDO’s office, pressuring her, and attempting to physically harm her.
The BJD accused the BJP group of hurling abuses and threats at the woman BDO, creating a fearful environment. They highlighted a similar incident last year and condemned attacks on government officials by individuals linked to ruling party members. The party emphasized that such assaults undermine the rule of law and the safety of public servants, especially women officers. The BJD called for swift action, including FIR registration, identification, and arrest of all suspects involved in the incident.
The BJD warned of protests if authorities fail to take action against those responsible for the attack on the woman BDO in Rajnagar. The party stressed the need for a thorough investigation into the intimidation and obstruction of a public servant. They demanded accountability and a secure working environment for government officials.
