The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has accused the Congress leadership of involvement in a significant “money for tickets” scandal related to the 2024 Haryana Assembly elections. BJP IT Cell chief Amit Malviya alleged that around Rs 7 crore was gathered for a single constituency, as per a Congress office-bearer’s claims. Malviya highlighted the Bawal assembly seat in Haryana, linking the money collection to references to “10 Janpath” and the top Congress leadership.
Malviya emphasized that these allegations emerged from within the Congress party itself, demanding clarity on whether money influenced ticket distribution. He pointed out that such accusations reveal underlying organizational issues and cast doubts on the party’s internal transparency. The BJP leader also criticized Priyanka Gandhi Vadra, questioning the party’s credibility amidst allegations of financial irregularities and leadership inaccessibility.
The BJP leader stressed the need for answers regarding the impact of “money deals” on candidate selection, following the surfacing of these allegations post the Haryana Assembly polls in October 2024. The BJP attributed the Congress’s electoral setbacks in Haryana to the party’s perceived “transactional nature” in politics. While the BJP secured a majority in the elections, the Congress is yet to officially respond to these specific charges.
