The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and Congress criticized Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann after allegations surfaced of him being drunk inside the state Assembly. Delhi BJP President Virendra Sachdeva expressed surprise over the incident, questioning the behavior of a person in such a responsible position. He emphasized the significance of the Assembly and Parliament as pillars of democracy.
Sachdeva highlighted the irony of Mann’s actions, noting that the same Chief Minister who vowed to make Punjab free of intoxication was now allegedly promoting the opposite. He also accused AAP Convenor Arvind Kejriwal of fostering a similar culture in Delhi. Punjab Congress President Amarinder Singh Raja Warring raised concerns about the Chief Minister not adhering to the Assembly’s rules and regulations, tarnishing the state’s image.
Warring further alleged that the Punjab government, led by Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann, was under pressure, suggesting that external influences were at play. Leader of Opposition (LoP) in the Punjab Assembly, Partap Singh Bajwa, criticized Mann, stating that such serious allegations against the Chief Minister were unprecedented in the country’s history. Despite the controversy, Chief Minister Mann secured a vote of confidence in the House with unanimous support.
