The BJP and educational organizations associated with the Sangh Parivar are set to protest in Kolkata, accusing certain individuals of inciting ‘anarchy’ under the guise of a ‘student movement’. This protest will lead to processions and gatherings in Kolkata for two consecutive days. The BJP’s procession is scheduled for Monday, while various organizations like ABVP, ABRSM, and BSM will join in on Tuesday.
The BJP’s procession, organized by the North Kolkata district BJP, will commence at 3 p.m. from Sealdah station premises, heading towards Esplanade. The protest aims to denounce the chaos and anarchy allegedly being fomented in Kolkata under the pretext of a student movement. The BJP president of North Kolkata district emphasized the importance of peaceful demonstrations in a democratic setup while rejecting the propagation of ‘Azadi’ slogans.
Following a procession by SFI and leftist student groups on Friday, tensions escalated as clashes erupted between participants and the police, leading to allegations of violence and harassment towards journalists. Chief Minister Suvendu Adhikari visited the injured journalists at SSKM Hospital, promising legal action against the perpetrators. The police have since initiated arrests in connection with the unrest, with 14 individuals already detained.
In response to the government’s actions, the BJP plans to intensify its involvement in the situation, signaling a political stance. Additionally, educational organizations affiliated with the Sangh Parivar are mobilizing under the banner ‘Shiksha Sanskriti Suraksha Manch’ to address similar concerns. These organizations, including ABVP and BSM, will hold a procession in Kolkata on Tuesday to voice their stance against the misuse of the student movement for anti-national activities.
