The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in Gujarat has intensified its organizational preparations for the upcoming local body elections by revealing new district- and city-level leadership teams in Dahod, Anand, and Junagadh city. These appointments, disclosed recently, are part of a phased restructuring initiative to strengthen the party’s grassroots network across the state. The changes were implemented under the guidance of the BJP’s Gujarat state leadership following the completion of organizational formations at national and state levels.
In Junagadh city, the BJP has established a comprehensive organizational structure by appointing three general secretaries, eight vice-presidents, and eight ministers, along with office-bearers for various party wings. Similarly, the Dahod district unit has been revamped with eight vice-presidents, three general secretaries, and eight ministers, while Anand district has also received a new team comprising eight vice-presidents, three general secretaries, and eight ministers, alongside appointments in different wings. These announcements mark the initial phase of the organizational revamp, with leadership teams for other districts and urban units set to be revealed gradually in the upcoming days.
A party spokesperson highlighted that the BJP initiates election preparations well in advance, and this organizational exercise is a crucial part of that ongoing process. The recent developments followed a meeting in New Delhi involving Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel, Deputy Chief Minister Harsh Sanghavi, state BJP president Jagdish Vishwakarma, and the party’s national leadership. Discussions during the meeting focused on political strategy, organizational readiness, and upcoming electoral challenges. Moreover, the BJP has undertaken a broader reorganization of its Gujarat state unit by appointing 35 new office-bearers, including vice-presidents, general secretaries, and wing presidents, in December last year to enhance internal coordination ahead of the local body polls.
