A Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) candidate’s convoy faced an attack in West Bengal’s Kesharibari area of the Cooch Behar Dakshin Assembly constituency. The incident involved vandalism of a vehicle within the convoy and resulted in injuries to a BJP worker. The injured worker is currently receiving medical treatment at a local hospital.
Rathindranath Bose, the BJP candidate for the Cooch Behar Dakshin seat, has accused the Trinamool Congress of orchestrating the attack. In contrast, the Trinamool Congress leadership has refuted the allegations, attributing the incident to spontaneous public outrage. The police reported that the attack occurred as the BJP candidate and other party leaders were returning to Cooch Behar after a campaign.
The BJP candidate’s convoy was targeted as it passed through the Kesharibari area, with one vehicle being vandalized. While the BJP candidate’s car remained unharmed, another vehicle was damaged, leading to injuries sustained by a BJP worker named Ajit Das. Das was promptly taken to a hospital in Cooch Behar district for medical attention.
