BJP candidates in Manipur and Arunachal Pradesh have submitted their nomination papers for the upcoming Rajya Sabha elections on June 18. In Manipur, Adhikarimayum Sharda Devi, the state BJP President, filed her papers at the Manipur Assembly Secretariat for the state’s sole Rajya Sabha seat. She highlighted her focus on addressing women’s issues if elected.
Sharda Devi, in the presence of Chief Minister Yumnam Khemchand Singh and other party members, emphasized the importance of restoring peace and aiding displaced individuals in Manipur. Notably, no opposition candidate has filed nominations yet. The BJP holds a significant majority in the Manipur Assembly with 36 MLAs.
In Arunachal Pradesh, former state BJP President Tai Tagak submitted his nomination for the lone Rajya Sabha seat. Accompanied by top officials, Tagak, known for strengthening the party’s presence in the region, filed his papers at the Arunachal Pradesh Legislative Assembly Secretariat in Itanagar. The election is due to the conclusion of the incumbent MP’s tenure on June 23, with the ruling BJP expected to secure victory.
