The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) responded to senior Congress leader Digvijaya Singh’s proposed Mahakal-to-Ayodhya padyatra. Khajuraho MP Vishnu Dutt Sharma dismissed Singh’s claims about the Ram Temple and Mahakal Temple land in Ujjain as unfounded. Sharma emphasized that any complaints regarding the Ram Temple Trust were being investigated by a Special Investigation Team (SIT) at the Trust’s request.
Former Madhya Pradesh BJP chief Sharma highlighted that Singh’s allegations were baseless and that the BJP government was committed to transparency. Singh had announced a “non-political” padyatra from the Mahakal Temple to Ayodhya, aiming for clarity on donations for the Ram Temple. He intended to seek information on the utilization of donations collected for the temple, emphasizing the devotees’ right to know.
In response to Singh’s claim about land linked to the Mahakal Temple being allotted for an RSS guest house, Sharma urged Singh to address decisions made during his own tenure as Chief Minister. Sharma pointed out that during the Congress government, land allotments had occurred, with Singh later acknowledging it as a significant mistake. Sharma assured that the BJP government was ensuring transparency and investigating all complaints fairly.
Sharma further accused Singh of repeatedly questioning Hindutva and Sanatan Dharma, asserting that the BJP government had no hidden agenda and would take strict action against any wrongdoing.
