The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) criticized the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) for removing Raghav Chadha as the Deputy Leader in the Rajya Sabha. Delhi BJP President Virendra Sachdeva accused Arvind Kejriwal of running the party in an authoritarian manner. Sachdeva expressed concerns about the democratic functioning of the AAP following the decision.
Sachdeva highlighted that every Member of Parliament, regardless of party affiliation, has a moral duty to voice their opinions in the House on matters concerning their constituency and the nation. He criticized the AAP for allegedly instructing the Rajya Sabha Secretariat to prevent Chadha from speaking, calling it undemocratic.
The BJP leader directly criticized Kejriwal, accusing him of being intolerant of dissent within and outside his party. Sachdeva claimed that the removal of Chadha is part of a trend within the AAP where assertive leaders are sidelined over time. He also suggested that Kejriwal surrounds himself with individuals who align with his political interests rather than those with independent thinking.
Sachdeva further alleged that Kejriwal is apprehensive of competent leaders within his party, insinuating that the AAP Chief feels threatened by such individuals. He mentioned past instances within the AAP where leaders who challenged the party leadership were marginalized or removed from prominent positions.
