The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) launched a strong criticism against the Congress and Leader of Opposition Rahul Gandhi for their remarks related to a report by the United States Commission on International Religious Freedom (USCIRF). BJP National Spokesperson Gaurav Bhatia accused the opposition of tarnishing India’s image by aligning with anti-India forces during a press conference in Delhi.
Bhatia expressed disappointment over the Congress sharing a post that referenced the USCIRF report’s criticism of India’s Research and Analysis Wing (RAW) and the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS). He refuted Rahul Gandhi’s statement about running a “shop of love,” alleging that it was misleading and actually promoted “anti-India goods.”
Highlighting a tweet from the verified Congress handle, Bhatia emphasized that the opposition party was focused on defaming India and accused Rahul Gandhi of siding with anti-India elements. The USCIRF report recommended targeted sanctions against entities like RAW and the RSS, a move that Bhatia found concerning, especially given Pakistan’s historical fear of RAW.
The BJP’s criticism extended to Rahul Gandhi’s interactions with US Congresswoman Ilhan Omar during his foreign visits, where both allegedly questioned the state of democracy in India. Bhatia condemned these actions, suggesting that such engagements with individuals critical of India’s democratic status were detrimental.
