The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has called for an investigation into suspected irregularities in recruitment at the Tripura Tribal Areas Autonomous District Council (TTAADC). The BJP’s ally, the Tipra Motha Party (TMP), has been in charge of the TTAADC since 2021. A BJP delegation met with Governor Indra Sena Reddy Nallu to request an inquiry into the filling of 120 positions at the council.
Senior BJP leader Rebati Tripura, leading the delegation, accused the current TTAADC administration of widespread corruption. The BJP claimed that the council hastily appointed individuals to 120 Group-C and Group-D posts without following proper procedures, allegedly leading to corruption and financial impropriety. The party also criticized the administration for failing to meet financial audit requirements.
The BJP announced that its four newly elected TTAADC members would boycott the upcoming swearing-in ceremony at the council headquarters. The TMP, winning 24 out of 28 seats in the recent elections, has strengthened its political standing in Tripura. The TTAADC, governing a significant portion of Tripura’s geographical area, has become a focal point of political dynamics in the state.
