The Bharatiya Janata Party’s central leadership has instructed its West Bengal unit to conduct a widespread campaign in the state following the Supreme Court’s decision on January 15. The apex court stayed the FIRs filed by the West Bengal Police against Enforcement Directorate officials related to recent searches at the premises of political consultancy firm I-PAC and its co-founder Pratik Jain in Kolkata.
The BJP plans to emphasize the key points of the apex court’s directives through this campaign. The party’s state leadership in West Bengal will also challenge a High Court order that denied permission for a protest demonstration in front of the state secretariat.
The Chief Whip of the BJP’s legislative party in the West Bengal Assembly, Shankar Ghosh, highlighted that holding a protest demonstration is their democratic right as the principal opposition party in the state. The party aims to address this issue promptly by approaching a division bench of the Calcutta High Court.
