The Bharatiya Janata Party has emerged as the dominant force in municipal elections across Maharashtra, except in Mumbai. The BJP secured clear majorities or emerged as the largest party in various corporations, while the Shiv Sena, led by Eknath Shinde, maintained control in significant areas. In Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar, the BJP became the largest party with 58 seats, followed by AIMIM with 33 seats and Shiv Sena with 12 seats.
In Navi Mumbai, the BJP, under Minister Ganesh Naik’s leadership, clinched a majority with 66 seats in the 111-member corporation. The Shiv Sena, led by Shinde, became the primary opposition with 42 seats.
In Vasai-Virar, the Bahujan Vikas Aghadi, led by former MLA Hitendra Thakur, secured a majority by winning 71 out of 115 seats, with the BJP winning the remaining 44 seats.
