The West Bengal BJP unit lodged a police complaint against Kalyan Banerjee, a Trinamool Congress MP, accusing him of using offensive language against Union Home Minister Amit Shah. Banerjee allegedly referred to Shah as a “goon,” “executioner,” “coward,” and a “completely dirty man” during a certain period earlier this year.
The complaint, filed by BJP leader Bhaskar Ghosh at the Sreerampore police station, also mentioned Banerjee making baseless allegations against Shah. Local BJP leaders are demanding Banerjee’s immediate arrest over the matter, emphasizing that his remarks are punishable offenses.
Ghosh highlighted that Banerjee’s comments about Amit Shah and West Bengal Opposition Leader Suvendu Adhikari were unacceptable. The complaint further accused Banerjee of trying to incite unrest during and after the 2021 Assembly elections, leading to post-poll violence in the state. The Sreerampore police station has assured a thorough investigation into the issue.
