Political activity is intensifying in Tamil Nadu ahead of the 2026 Assembly elections. The BJP is enhancing its organizational structure and alliances to position itself as a strong alternative to the ruling DMK. P. Vijayalekshmi, a senior BJP leader, shared insights on the party’s preparations, alliances, women’s issues, law and order, and the DMK government’s investments.
The BJP has focused on strengthening its grassroots machinery by restructuring committees and mobilizing various wings like youth, women, farmers, and workers. Efforts are underway to expand the NDA in Tamil Nadu by aligning with parties sharing similar values.
Despite having only four MLAs currently, the BJP’s growing vote share and visibility indicate potential for significant expansion in rural areas. Women in the state seek better representation, safety, employment, and empowerment beyond token benefits.
The government’s investment claims were questioned by Vijayalekshmi, emphasizing the need for tangible outcomes and job creation. Concerns over law and order were raised, stressing the importance of due process, transparency, and accountability.
Alleged encounter deaths have sparked public concern, highlighting the need for impartial investigations. The BJP emphasizes upholding the rule of law and protecting human rights for effective law and order management.
The BJP challenges the DMK’s claims of women-friendly schemes, advocating for genuine empowerment through safety, employment, and equal opportunities. The party believes true empowerment is achieved when women feel secure, independent, and respected in society.
