The Bharatiya Janata Party’s Karnataka unit lauded the 2026-27 Union Budget, hailing it as historic for ensuring the country’s comprehensive development. The party appreciated initiatives such as a railway station corridor, bullet train connectivity to Bengaluru, and projects to revive the sandalwood, coconut, and cocoa sectors, benefiting farmers in the state.
During a press conference at the BJP state headquarters, BJP Central Parliamentary Committee member B.S. Yediyurappa, accompanied by state leaders, commended Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman’s budget presentation. Yediyurappa emphasized the budget’s focus on national development, historical site preservation, and initiatives like the development of 500 reservoirs and ‘Amrit Sarovars’ to boost farmers’ income and fisheries sector.
Yediyurappa highlighted the budget’s emphasis on employment generation, entrepreneurship, and animal husbandry development. He also mentioned plans to elevate Indian cashew and cocoa as premium global brands by 2030, along with allocations for states, including Karnataka, and schemes like ‘Stree Mart’ for women. The budget also includes projects for sandalwood, cocoa, and coconut, benefiting specific regions in Karnataka.
The budget announcement encompasses a national textiles policy, promotion of textile industries, support for MSMEs, capital expenditure increase, development funds for tier-2 and tier-3 cities, mountain trekking permissions, and women’s residential facilities in every district. Yediyurappa noted reductions in customs duty for raw materials used in chemical fertilizers, exemptions for cancer drugs, and a focus on khadi and handloom sectors in alignment with Mahatma Gandhi’s vision of Gram Swaraj.
