Jaipur, Aug 17 (IANS) The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has formally begun preparations for the forthcoming civic body elections in Rajasthan, with the party leadership declaring its intention to secure a decisive victory by foregrounding development, good governance and welfare initiatives of both the Central and state governments.
At a crucial meeting held at the BJP state office in Jaipur on Monday, Chief Minister Bhajanlal Sharma said Rajasthan was poised to move towards a “triple‑engine government” with the party’s victory in the civic elections, building on the “double‑engine” model of governance already in place.
The meeting was attended by BJP State In‑charge Radha Mohan Das Agarwal, State President and Rajya Sabha MP Madan Rathore, State Organisation General Secretary Ajay, Civic Election In‑charge and National General Secretary Harish Dwivedi, National General Secretary and MP Gajendra Singh Patel, National Secretary and MP Sangeeta Yadav, National Secretary Rohan Gupta, Maharashtra Minister Chandrashekhar Bawankule and Delhi Minister Ravinder Indraj Singh, along with divisional teams, manifesto committees and divisional in‑charges.
Discussions centred on booth-level organisational activities, candidate selection, election strategy, local issues, and communicating the achievements of the Central and Rajasthan governments to voters. Party leaders emphasised that the campaign would seek votes based on development works, governance reforms and welfare schemes.
Chief Minister Sharma said the BJP government had worked to put Rajasthan on a new path of development during its tenure. He stressed that the government’s achievements were not limited to announcements but were being implemented rapidly on the ground. He highlighted initiatives in youth employment, farmers’ welfare, women’s empowerment, water availability, investment and infrastructure development.
According to Sharma, the state government has provided more than 1.89 lakh government jobs. He pointed to initiatives addressing Rajasthan’s water requirements, including the Yamuna Water Agreement and the Ram Jal Setu project, describing them as crucial steps towards long‑term water security.
Sharma said Rajasthan’s investment climate had strengthened, with proposals worth around Rs 35 lakh crore, of which projects involving nearly Rs 9 lakh crore had already moved towards implementation. He added that the government was prioritising the interests of farmers, youth, women and other sections of society. Under the Kisan Samman Nidhi scheme, farmers in Rajasthan are being provided Rs 9,000.
He contrasted the BJP’s governance record with what he described as the “misgovernance and corruption” of the previous Congress government, saying the BJP administration focused on good governance and public welfare.
Speaking to the media after the meeting, BJP State President Madan Rathore said the party organisation was fully prepared for the elections, including at the booth level. He said candidates would be selected based on their public connect, commitment to the organisation, credibility and electoral potential.
“Candidate selection will align with public aspirations; there is no room for nepotism or favouritism,” Rathore said, adding that the party would ensure significant participation of youth, women and weaker sections in the process.
Rathore said that under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Chief Minister Bhajanlal Sharma, Rajasthan was moving forward with new momentum in development. He highlighted initiatives in education, healthcare, roads, electricity, housing, drinking water, farmer welfare, women’s empowerment and employment.
He also cited the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana, Swachh Bharat Abhiyan and Ujjwala Yojana, along with the campaign to provide tap‑water connections, as major initiatives that had contributed to improved living standards. Rathore said the startup ecosystem had expanded, with more than 2.2 lakh startups, while job fairs had created employment opportunities for young people.
The BJP state president expressed confidence that voters would support the party in the upcoming local body elections. Taking aim at the Congress, Rathore said the opposition party had no concrete achievements to present before the people and continued to be affected by internal factionalism.
He said the people of Rajasthan had already experienced Congress‑era misgovernance and corruption, while the BJP government was moving forward with a commitment to development, good governance and public welfare. Rathore added that the BJP was confident of receiving the people’s support in the civic elections, noting that voters continued to have faith in the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Chief Minister Bhajanlal Sharma.
