The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) commenced its election campaign in Assam by initiating the ‘Jan Ashirwad Yatra’ to engage with the public. Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma inaugurated the yatra at the Gupteshwar Temple in Dhekiajuli, Sonitpur district. This outreach program aims to directly interact with voters and showcase the BJP government’s developmental efforts before the upcoming Assembly elections.
The Jan Ashirwad Yatra, flagged off by Sarma, will convey messages of progress, effective governance, and welfare schemes to all corners of Assam. Party members were encouraged to enhance grassroots involvement during the campaign. The first day of the yatra witnessed significant public participation, with large crowds gathering along the route.
Senior BJP leaders, ministers, and legislators are set to join the yatra as it traverses multiple districts in phases over the following weeks. The campaign, termed as a crucial part of the party’s election strategy, will emphasize direct engagement with the public, gathering feedback, and mobilizing party workers at the booth level. Scheduled to conclude on March 9, the yatra will cover various districts in the state.
BJP MP Pradan Baruah highlighted that the Jan Ashirwad Yatra primarily aims to enable Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma to directly connect with the people of Assam and seek their blessings for the upcoming elections. The yatra is structured to strengthen grassroots connections and communicate the BJP’s vision for Assam’s future. Baruah mentioned that the journey will also showcase the developmental projects undertaken by the BJP-led government over the past decade, with a focus on initiatives from the last five years under Chief Minister Sarma’s leadership.
Baruah expressed that the yatra will serve as a platform to showcase the government’s work in detail to the public. The Chief Minister and party leaders will engage directly with citizens, explaining various welfare schemes, infrastructure projects, and policy measures aimed at the state’s progress. The BJP is fully committed to ensuring the success of the yatra, considering it a pivotal element of their political outreach in the lead-up to the elections. Feedback gathered during the yatra will play a crucial role in shaping the party’s future strategies.
