Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader N.R. Ramesh claimed that K.M. Chetan, a former BBMP Corporator and close associate of Karnataka Minister Krishna Byre Gowda, illegally occupied 32 guntas of Union government land in Bengaluru. Ramesh called for a CID investigation into the alleged encroachment, criticizing the Karnataka government for inaction despite court orders and complaints by Union officials. The BJP leader implicated K.M. Chetan and his father N. Manjunath, alleging they seized land worth over Rs 100 crore during their leadership at Chairman Club.
Ramesh disclosed that complaints were filed with the Karnataka Lokayukta against K.M. Chetan, N. Manjunath, and certain BBMP officials for encroaching on government land through forgery and cheating. He urged Chief Minister D.K. Shivakumar to assign the case to CID for a thorough probe. The disputed land, as per Ramesh, is located in Kodigehalli village and has been unlawfully occupied for nearly 18 years. The BJP leader accused Minister Byre Gowda’s associates of illegally holding valuable government property despite legal actions.
BJP leader Ramesh further alleged that Chairman Club had unlawfully expanded its premises by enclosing 32 guntas of land owned by the Ministry of Power. He claimed that despite court rulings favoring the Ministry’s ownership, the Karnataka government failed to take corrective measures. Ramesh mentioned official correspondences from the Ministry of Power requesting action against the encroachment, highlighting the lack of response from the state authorities.
