BJP National General Secretary Tarun Chugh criticized the Bhagwant Mann government, alleging that the initially announced Rs 20,000 crore flood relief package in Punjab has been reduced to Rs 11,855 crore in the final assessment. Chugh claimed that the state government’s attempts to blame the Centre were baseless and aimed at deceiving the public.
According to Chugh, the Punjab government’s special Assembly session was a waste of resources and focused on spreading confusion rather than enhancing flood relief efforts. He labeled the floods as a “Mann-made disaster,” citing administrative failures and inadequate flood preparedness measures by the state authorities.
Chugh further accused the Punjab government of mismanagement, citing issues such as defective gates at key headworks and insufficient disaster response resources. He criticized Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann for allegedly being absent during the crisis and accused Congress leaders of prioritizing politics over assisting flood-affected residents.
Chugh highlighted Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s proactive involvement in coordinating relief efforts and sending Union Ministers to assess the flood situation in Punjab and other affected regions.
