Senior BJP leader Tarun Vijay has urged for severe punishment for those responsible for the death of Tripura student Angel Chakma, who was fatally attacked in Dehradun and passed away on December 26. Vijay visited Chakma’s family in Machmara village to offer his condolences and emphasized the need for exemplary punishment for the perpetrators of the racist attack.

Angel Chakma, a 24-year-old MBA student, was assaulted by a racist mob in Dehradun on December 9, leading to his death after an 18-day struggle in the hospital. Tarun Vijay has advocated for justice, stating that it would serve as a deterrent against similar crimes in the future.

Expressing deep sorrow over the incident, Tarun Vijay has called for the guilty parties to face severe consequences for their actions. He has also proposed employment for Angel Chakma’s younger brother, Michael Chakma, to support the family financially.

Vijay has suggested the establishment of a special Northeast cell within the Uttarakhand Police to address cases of racial discrimination. He emphasized that his visit to the Chakma family aimed to show solidarity and share their grief on behalf of the people of Uttarakhand. Protests have been ongoing in Uttarakhand following the tragic incident.
