BJP leader Sudhanshu Trivedi criticized Congress veteran Saifuddin Soz for linking statehood for Jammu and Kashmir and the restoration of Article 370 to the idea of the Muslim-majority state staying with India on its “own terms.” Trivedi questioned if the Congress party supported Soz’s stance and if any action would be taken against him.
Trivedi raised concerns about Soz’s remarks, connecting them to LoP Rahul Gandhi’s recent foreign trip and the subsequent anti-India statement made by Soz. He urged the Congress to clarify its position on Soz’s views regarding Jammu and Kashmir’s autonomy and sovereignty.
The BJP spokesperson emphasized that the issue goes beyond statehood or Article 370 restoration, highlighting Soz’s mention of “pre-1953 autonomy” as a form of sovereignty. Trivedi pressed the Congress leadership, including Rahul Gandhi, Sonia Gandhi, and Mallikarjun Kharge, to address whether Soz’s statements align with the party’s official stance.
