Senior BJP leader and Member of Parliament Suresh Kashyap slammed the Congress government in Himachal Pradesh for what he called rampant corruption, administrative collapse, and growing lawlessness. He highlighted the state’s current phase of “misgovernance” as one of the worst in its history. Kashyap specifically pointed out alleged irregularities in a Rs 36.77 crore GI pipe procurement scam case in the Jal Shakti Department in 2024-25.
According to Kashyap, corruption and administrative disorder have escalated significantly under the Congress regime, jeopardizing public funds and constitutional discipline. He criticized the lack of accountability despite official reports revealing serious irregularities in the procurement process. Kashyap emphasized that the absence of concrete action against those responsible raises concerns about political protection.
The BJP leader questioned the government’s handling of the situation, stating that withholding payments without ensuring accountability is insufficient. He accused the government of attempting to cover up the scandal instead of addressing the systemic issues. Another BJP MP, Rajeev Bhardwaj, also criticized the government for allowing controversial statements and social media posts under political protection, which he deemed a threat to the state’s social harmony and administrative unity.
Bhardwaj emphasized the importance of upholding constitutional norms and respecting the state’s cultural ethos. He warned against attempts to provoke regional sentiments and politicize administration, highlighting the need for maintaining integrity within the government. Both leaders expressed concern over the Chief Minister’s silence on these matters, suggesting a lack of control over the government and administration.
