BJP leader Abhijit Das, also known as Bobby, lodged a police complaint against Trinamool Congress General Secretary Abhishek Banerjee at Diamond Harbour police station in South 24 Parganas. Das alleged that he was assaulted in 2018 and claimed that no action was taken despite informing the police during the Trinamool Congress regime.

Abhijit Das, a prominent BJP figure in South 24 Parganas, contested against Abhishek Banerjee for the Diamond Harbour seat in the 2024 Lok Sabha elections. According to the complaint, Das was reportedly attacked in 2018 at Kapathat intersection on the instructions of Banerjee and an associate. He stated that he was severely beaten and lost consciousness during the assault.

Das mentioned that he received no assistance during the attack and subsequently reported the incident. He accused the police of inaction during the Trinamool government’s tenure. Recently, the BJP leader revisited the police, naming six individuals, including Banerjee, in a fresh complaint.

“I have been left with paralysis due to the assault and still struggle to climb stairs. The attack was premeditated, and despite my prior police report, no action was taken. I anticipate a different outcome this time,” expressed Das. This development coincides with Abhishek Banerjee facing multiple legal issues, such as ongoing investigations and accusations of signature forgery and incitement during the election campaign.
