On counting day, Suvendu Adhikari, Leader of Opposition in the West Bengal Assembly and a BJP leader, stated that the BJP is poised to establish the government in the state, with the Trinamool Congress falling short of 100 seats. Adhikari mentioned that while the Trinamool Congress will secure some seats, they are unlikely to reach triple digits. He emphasized that a clearer picture will emerge as counting progresses.
Adhikari highlighted his performance in Nandigram, noting a significant increase in votes compared to the 2021 elections. He expressed confidence in extending his lead by over 10,000 votes in the upcoming rounds. The BJP received 45% of the vote share, while the Trinamool Congress garnered 38%, indicating a clear trend, according to Adhikari.
The ongoing trends for the 293 Assembly seats reveal that in four districts of West Bengal, Trinamool Congress candidates are not leading in any constituency. These districts include Alipurduar and Jalpaiguri in North Bengal, and Jhargram and West Burdwan in South Bengal. Notably, BJP candidates are leading in all constituencies in these districts, as per the latest updates.
