The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leaders have criticized the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) following the decision of seven AAP Rajya Sabha MPs, including Raghav Chadha, to join the BJP. BJP MP Bansuri Swaraj emphasized the need for AAP’s leadership to reflect on the departure of many founding members, indicating a decline in the party’s strength.
BJP MP Anurag Thakur attributed the exodus of AAP’s founding members to “corruption” within the party, highlighting the significant number of leaders who faced legal issues in a short period. Thakur urged AAP’s leadership to examine the reasons behind the continuous exit of key figures from the party.
According to Thakur, the departing leaders were disillusioned by the party’s failure to uphold its anti-corruption stance, leading to their departure. BJP spokesperson Syed Shahnawaz Hussain remarked that AAP leaders have recognized a deviation from the party’s original objectives, hinting at potential challenges for Arvind Kejriwal’s leadership.
Delhi BJP President Virendra Sachdeva welcomed the decision of AAP MPs to switch to the BJP and predicted a possible split in AAP’s leadership in Punjab. Sachdeva expressed concerns over the dissatisfaction among Punjab’s populace with the governance of Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann and Arvind Kejriwal.
Blaming Arvind Kejriwal for the internal rift in AAP, BJP National General Secretary Tarun Chugh accused Kejriwal of promoting corrupt practices within the party, leading to its current predicament.
