Following Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah’s resignation, Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leaders have criticized the Congress for internal conflicts and factionalism, predicting the “collapse of the Congress.” BJP MP Praveen Khandelwal expressed concerns about the state of the Congress, stating that the party is facing a dilemma leading to its inevitable collapse. He highlighted the ongoing resignations within the party as a clear sign of the Congress being a sinking ship.
BJP MP Dinesh Sharma labeled the Congress government in Karnataka as a regime of “loot,” accusing Siddaramaiah of corruption and suggesting that D. Shivakumar would continue the same. Sharma also criticized the lack of leadership within the Congress, predicting the party’s defeat in the Uttar Pradesh Assembly polls under Rahul Gandhi’s leadership. BJP MP Kamaljeet Sehrawat echoed similar sentiments, pointing out factionalism within the Congress and its failure to win elections due to internal divisions.
Sehrawat further criticized Rahul Gandhi for neglecting the welfare of the people in Karnataka, emphasizing the party’s inability to maintain unity among its leaders. In contrast, BJP MP Manoj Tiwari emphasized that the party holds the authority to decide the Chief Minister, asserting that it is an internal matter for the Congress to resolve. Meanwhile, Siddaramaiah, after resigning, mentioned that the Congress Legislature Party (CLP) meeting and the party high command would determine the next Chief Minister of Karnataka.
Responding to inquiries about discussions with the Congress high command in Delhi, Siddaramaiah disclosed that he had been offered a role in national politics but declined the proposal.
