BJP leaders have expressed their approval of the Enforcement Directorate’s (ED) searches at locations associated with Trinamool Congress (TMC) MLA Madan Mitra. They stressed the importance of continuing investigations into corruption allegations and ensuring that those found guilty face consequences. Bhatpara BJP MLA Pawan Singh highlighted that investigative agencies have been looking into various individuals for a significant period and are now intensifying their efforts.
Locket Chatterjee, a BJP leader, also welcomed the ED’s actions and emphasized the necessity of legal repercussions if any wrongdoing is proven. She mentioned the need for accountability, especially for those who have allegedly exploited public resources. The ED conducted simultaneous raids in Kolkata and nearby areas in connection with a multi-crore cash-for-municipalities job case in West Bengal.
The Enforcement Directorate’s searches included two residences linked to Madan Mitra, a Trinamool Congress legislator and former minister. These operations are part of an ongoing investigation into suspected irregularities in municipal recruitment and financial transactions. The case revolves around allegations of improprieties in the recruitment process for various municipal bodies in West Bengal, with a focus on potential financial misconduct.
