BJP MLA Prakash Chandra Sethi is optimistic about the BJP securing the most seats in the upcoming Rajya Sabha elections in Odisha. Sethi believes that support from several MLAs of Biju Janata Dal (BJD) and Indian National Congress will bolster the BJP’s position.
Sethi highlighted internal discontent within Congress and BJD, suggesting that this could impact voting patterns. He mentioned the possibility of some legislators from the opposition parties expressing dissatisfaction with their leadership and potentially cross-voting during the polls.
With the backing of 82 MLAs, Sethi mentioned that two BJP candidates are likely to secure Rajya Sabha seats easily. He also noted competition for the remaining seats and expressed confidence in the BJP’s ability to win comfortably.
Sethi emphasized that the BJP is actively engaging with MLAs from BJD and Congress, anticipating their support for the party’s candidate. He stated that even if additional support is required, the BJP remains hopeful of garnering backing from legislators across party lines.
The upcoming Rajya Sabha election in Odisha has sparked political interest, with parties engaging in strategic discussions to consolidate their support base. The final outcome will hinge on voting dynamics and potential cross-party alliances.
A senior BJP leader announced the party’s intention to contest three Rajya Sabha seats following a meeting of ruling party MLAs. Additionally, the Congress Legislature Party convened to strategize for the elections, while a BJD-backed candidate sought support from Congress legislators.
