BJP MLC and former National General Secretary C.T. Ravi responded to Congress leaders’ accusations during a rally in Bengaluru, labeling BJP as anti-democratic and against the Constitution. Ravi specifically mentioned Congress leaders like Siddaramaiah, Mallikarjun Kharge, and B.K. Hariprasad for baseless allegations against the BJP.
Ravi emphasized that the Congress itself opposes the Constitution and highlighted the presence of images of Lord Ram, Lord Krishna, and Gautama Buddha in it. He advocated for following the philosophies of Buddha and Basavanna to foster harmony among different faiths, stressing that Indian thought respects all paths and faiths.
Asserting the importance of Hindutva to India’s identity, Ravi stated that without it, the country would face challenges akin to Afghanistan or Pakistan. He defended BJP’s focus on the welfare of the poor and development initiatives, contrasting it with what he described as the Congress’s anti-Constitution and anti-democratic actions.
Accusing the Congress of misusing power through numerous amendments to the Constitution, Ravi criticized the party for undermining democracy during the Emergency period by restricting fundamental rights and detaining opposition figures. He also questioned the insertion of the terms “socialist” and “secular” into the Constitution without adequate deliberation, alleging that Dr. B.R. Ambedkar had opposed such changes.
Ravi further highlighted the need for leaders to emerge from public support, contrasting Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s election with what he termed as the political inheritance-based leadership in the Congress. He concluded by accusing the Congress of pursuing anti-Hindu politics, attributing the party’s declining power in several states to this stance.
