Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) MP Anurag Thakur expressed disappointment towards Opposition parties for their lack of support for the Women’s Reservation Bill. Thakur accused those with an “anti-women ideology” of opposing the legislation, highlighting the upcoming parliamentary discussions on amendments to enable one-third reservation for women.
Thakur emphasized that the opposition to the bill by parties like Congress, West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee, and DMK stems from their alleged anti-women stance. He criticized the previous Congress-led UPA government for failing to pass the bill during their tenure, contrasting it with the BJP’s success in doing so.
Additionally, Thakur pledged the BJP’s commitment to women’s rights and empowerment, affirming their dedication to ensuring gender equality. He also commented on the political scenario in West Bengal, predicting the defeat of the Trinamool Congress in the upcoming state elections and accusing Mamata Banerjee of corruption.
Thakur outlined the BJP’s vision for West Bengal, promising a governance free from corruption, commissions, and illegal activities once the Trinamool Congress is no longer in power. He projected a positive transformation for the state under BJP leadership, aiming to eliminate existing challenges and foster a more transparent administration.
