Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) MP Bansuri Swaraj launched a scathing attack on the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) and its Chief Arvind Kejriwal. Swaraj accused Kejriwal of living a lavish lifestyle while promising the opposite to the public. She also highlighted the ideological issues within AAP due to the departure of some founding members.
Speaking to the press after seven AAP Rajya Sabha MPs joined the BJP, Swaraj criticized AAP for failing to live up to its initial promise as a new political option. She claimed that the party, which emerged from the Anna Hazare movement, had let down its roots and even betrayed Hazare.
Swaraj pointed out that the seven MPs who left AAP did so due to reasons such as the party’s alleged anti-women stance, hypocrisy, and dishonesty. She mentioned that AAP’s attempt to portray a common man image did not resonate with the people of Delhi, leading to their defeat in elections.
Accusing Kejriwal of being deceptive, Swaraj urged him to show his true self to the public. She mocked his common man persona, suggesting it was a facade to mislead voters. Swaraj also criticized Kejriwal for his alleged misuse of government resources, including building a lavish residence during the Covid-19 crisis.
