Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) MP Jagdambika Pal criticized Congress leader Rahul Gandhi for allegedly allowing Naxalism to grow during the Congress-led UPA government. Pal commended Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s strong actions for reducing the spread of Left-wing extremism. He highlighted Gandhi’s absence from Parliament despite active social media presence, pointing out associations with individuals linked to Maoist ideology during a Congress-led event.
Pal raised concerns about past incidents where support for Maoist elements was evident in academic circles. He mentioned instances of celebrations following the deaths of CRPF personnel, indicating a troubling mindset. Describing Naxalism as a violent movement causing over 20,000 deaths, Pal emphasized the challenges posed by the “Red Corridor” expanding across multiple states during the UPA tenure.
The BJP MP criticized the National Advisory Council under Sonia Gandhi’s chairmanship for allegedly interfering in anti-Maoist operations. He claimed that sympathetic members hindered effective action against the insurgency. Pal credited the NDA government’s firm approach, as highlighted by Home Minister Amit Shah, for reducing Maoist influence and promoting development in affected areas. He stressed the transformation from fear and instability to governance and progress in regions once plagued by extremism.
Pal warned of potential further spread of Naxalism if not for Modi’s leadership and the NDA government’s initiatives. He held the Congress, UPA government, and Rahul Gandhi accountable for the earlier expansion of Maoist influence.
