BJP MP Nishikant Dubey criticized the diplomatic strategy of former Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi’s government regarding Sri Lanka. He highlighted a historical incident where former Sri Lankan President Ranasinghe Premadasa accused India of inappropriate policies and escalating conflict. Dubey mentioned the return of the Indian Peace Keeping Force on March 24, 1990, noting the losses suffered during that period.
On the same day in 1971, the Indian Army was deployed to Colombo, as mentioned by Dubey. He pointed out that Sri Lankan Prime Minister Sirimavo Bandaranaike had raised concerns to Indira Gandhi. Dubey also criticized the Indian intervention in Sri Lanka’s internal affairs and questioned the diplomatic decisions made during that time.
Dubey further emphasized the clashes between India and Sri Lanka, highlighting the sacrifices made by soldiers during the conflict. He criticized the Nehru-Gandhi family’s approach and raised questions about their handling of the situation. Dubey described the events as a “black chapter” for the Congress party and expressed his discontent on social media.
