BJP MP Manoj Tiwari recently took part in the ‘Metro Monday’ initiative in Delhi, traveling via the Delhi Metro and an electric auto alongside NDMC Vice Chairman Kuljeet Singh Chahal. This campaign aimed to boost the adoption of Electric Vehicles (EVs) in the national capital. Under the guidance of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta, the focus was on advocating for public transport and clean energy vehicles.
Manoj Tiwari and Kuljeet Singh Chahal engaged with commuters during their journey, seeking feedback on daily travel experiences and suggestions for improvement. Tiwari mentioned that the interactions with passengers were memorable, with individuals sharing their commuting routines and experiences. He highlighted instances where people residing near Metro stations preferred walking short distances to access public transport for their daily commute.
The New Delhi Municipal Council (NDMC) also introduced a scheme during the campaign, offering a 50% discount on parking fees for EVs in Connaught Place. This initiative aimed to incentivize the adoption of EVs, contributing to reduced pollution levels in the city. Tiwari and Chahal actively promoted this scheme, distributing parking passes and urging residents to embrace EVs for a cleaner environment and sustainable urban growth.
This move towards promoting clean energy aligns with the broader vision of fostering an environmentally conscious and sustainable India. Tiwari emphasized the significance of initiatives like ‘Mera Bharat, Mera Yogdaan’ and ‘EV India’ in building a greener future for the country.
