The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has selected Prof. M. Nagaraj, a dedicated Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) member, as its candidate for the Rajya Sabha election. Nagaraj, originally from Hubballi-Dharwad, boasts a strong academic background and extensive experience in academia, administration, and organization. He has a history of involvement in student politics, notably with the Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) and the RSS, before transitioning into active politics through the BJP.
Prof. Nagaraj has held significant roles within the BJP, including as a state vice president of the Karnataka BJP unit. His background also includes serving as a member of the Karnataka Public Service Commission (KPSC), showcasing his administrative expertise. Additionally, he has been actively engaged in organizational projects aligned with the BJP’s ideological principles, influenced by Jan Sangh founder Pandit Deendayal Upadhyaya.
The party’s decision to nominate Prof. Nagaraj underscores its preference for leaders with a blend of academic proficiency, administrative acumen, and organizational prowess. Alongside Prof. Nagaraj, the BJP has also put forth Lingaraj Patil and Raghu Kautilya as candidates for the Legislative Council positions.
