The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in Gujarat has put forward four nominees for the upcoming Rajya Sabha elections. The nominations of Raju Shukla, Mansinh Parmar, Mukesh Rathwa, and Jitendra Kanzariya were submitted at the Gujarat Legislative Assembly in Gandhinagar. This move comes as the Congress party, absent from power in Gujarat for the past 30 years, did not field any candidates for the elections.
Addressing the media, state government spokesperson Jitu Vaghani highlighted the BJP’s long-standing political mandate in Gujarat. He emphasized the overwhelming support the BJP has received from the electorate, keeping the Congress out of power for three decades. Vaghani attributed this success to the public’s confidence in the BJP’s governance record and Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s leadership.
BJP state president Jagdish Vishwakarma expressed confidence in securing all 11 Rajya Sabha seats allocated to Gujarat. He mentioned that the four candidates were chosen based on their grassroots work and under the guidance of top BJP leaders. Vishwakarma linked this event to the BJP’s dominance in the state assembly, where the Congress currently has only 12 legislators.
The nominees, all grassroots BJP workers, are set to represent Gujarat’s interests in Parliament. They pledged to be the voice of the state’s 6.5 crore people and address key issues in the Rajya Sabha. The candidates thanked the BJP leadership for the opportunity and vowed to actively work for the people of Gujarat.
