Four exit polls suggest that the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) is likely to secure a victory over the Trinamool Congress in the West Bengal Assembly elections. The BJP is expected to lead by a modest margin, with the ruling party trailing behind. Other parties such as the Congress and Left parties are anticipated to face significant losses.
Two pollsters, Matrize and P-Marq, have forecasted a clear win for the BJP, surpassing the halfway mark of 148 seats. Meanwhile, the Trinamool Congress, led by Mamata Banerjee, is projected to secure around 120–140 seats.
Contrary to most polls, one survey predicts a return to power for the Trinamool Congress, potentially marking a fourth consecutive term for Mamata Banerjee. Matrize estimates the BJP to win 146–161 seats, with the Trinamool Congress expected to secure 125–160 seats, while other parties may only claim 6–10 seats.
P-Marq’s projections show the BJP likely to cross the majority mark independently, with estimates reaching up to 175 seats. In contrast, the Trinamool Congress is anticipated to secure 118–138 seats. Other parties are not expected to have a significant impact on the election outcome.
According to Poll Diary, the BJP is forecasted to win 142–171 seats, while the Trinamool Congress may secure 99–127 seats. Other parties are likely to secure around 5–10 seats. Peoples Pulse, the only poll predicting a Trinamool Congress victory, foresees 177–187 seats for the ruling party and 95–100 seats for the BJP. The election has primarily become a BJP versus Trinamool contest, sidelining other parties.
The West Bengal Assembly elections have become a closely watched battleground, with the BJP and Trinamool Congress engaged in a direct contest. The high voter turnout in the second phase has sealed the fate of candidates and parties. The first phase recorded approximately 93% polling, while the second phase saw an 89.99% turnout by 5 p.m.
