The BJP is gearing up for the 2027 Uttar Pradesh Assembly elections by rearranging district in-charge responsibilities under the Yogi Adityanath government. Following a recent Cabinet expansion, senior ministers have been reassigned districts, with new ministers taking charge of key regions. For instance, MSME Minister Bhupendra Singh Chaudhary now oversees Agra and Kasganj, while Food and Civil Supplies Minister Manoj Pandey is in charge of Sitapur.
Finance Minister Suresh Khanna has been assigned Varanasi and Lucknow, Agriculture Minister Surya Pratap Shahi will oversee Ayodhya and Basti, and Jal Shakti Minister Swatantra Dev Singh is responsible for Prayagraj and Gorakhpur. Women Welfare Minister Baby Rani Maurya has been given Etawah and Hathras, Sugarcane Development Minister Laxmi Narayan Chaudhary of Aligarh and Firozabad, and Tourism Minister Jaiveer Singh of Jhansi and Farrukhabad.
Animal Husbandry Minister Dharampal Singh will handle Ghaziabad and Rampur, Industrial Development Minister Nand Gopal Gupta ‘Nandi’ has been assigned Mirzapur and Chitrakoot, and Labour Minister Anil Rajbhar will look after Azamgarh and Siddharthnagar. Khadi and Village Industries Minister Rakesh Sachan will oversee Raebareli and Kannauj, while Urban Development Minister Arvind Kumar Sharma has been given Jaunpur and Bhadohi.
Additionally, Higher Education Minister Yogendra Upadhyay will oversee Kanpur Nagar, Technical Education Minister Ashish Patel has been assigned Gonda, Fisheries Minister Sanjay Nishad will handle Kanpur Dehat, and Panchayati Raj Minister Om Prakash Rajbhar is responsible for Ambedkar Nagar. Ministers of State and those with independent charge have also been allocated districts to oversee various responsibilities.
Political analysts view this reshuffle as a strategic move to maintain regional equilibrium, enhance organizational unity, and ensure effective implementation of schemes as the BJP readies itself for the upcoming electoral contest.
