The Karnataka government is preparing for a significant housing distribution event in Hubballi, where over 20,000 beneficiaries will receive houses. In response, the state’s BJP unit organized a rally criticizing the government for allegedly disregarding protocol and neglecting Opposition leaders. BJP MLAs Mahesh Tenginakai and M.R. Patil led the protest, accusing Chief Minister Siddaramaiah and the government of misrepresenting the funding source for the program.
The BJP leaders highlighted that the houses being inaugurated were constructed during the BJP’s tenure in the state. They emphasized the contributions of former Chief Minister B.S. Yediyurappa, Housing Minister V. Somanna, and other BJP leaders in initiating the project. The BJP criticized the current government for completing only minor pending works and claimed that the Centre played a significant role by providing funds for each house.
Moreover, the BJP expressed disappointment over the absence of Union Minister Pralhad Joshi, who represents the region, from the event. They accused the state government of turning the program into a Congress party affair by not inviting key BJP leaders. The event witnessed a mishap as a leader’s cut-out collapsed at the venue, resulting in injuries and hospitalizations.
Chief Minister Siddaramaiah, along with Housing and Waqf Minister Zameer Ahmad Khan and other prominent leaders, are actively participating in the event. The BJP’s protest and criticisms indicate underlying tensions and power struggles within the state’s political landscape.
