BJP spokesperson Shehzad Poonawalla criticized the Trinamool Congress for allegedly suppressing Hindus in West Bengal during its rule. He also claimed that the Congress has shifted from Gandhian principles to a party of insults. Poonawalla highlighted an FIR against Uttar Pradesh Congress Chief Ajay Rai, stating that the party has resorted to abusive language.
Referring to Rahul Gandhi’s derogatory comments about the Prime Minister, the BJP representative condemned the use of offensive language within the Congress party. Poonawalla pointed out a pattern of disrespectful remarks towards the Prime Minister, attributing it to his background, according to reports.
Poonawalla further criticized the West Bengal government for favoring one community over another, citing instances where Hindu festivals faced restrictions while Muslim holidays were celebrated with extended breaks. He praised the current BJP government for ending what he termed as appeasement politics and ensuring equal treatment for all communities.
Highlighting the imposition of ‘Vande Mataram’ in educational institutions in West Bengal, Poonawalla emphasized the BJP’s commitment to upholding the rights of Hindus in the state. He also commented on reported tensions between the Samajwadi Party and Congress, noting a potential rift in their alliance over seat-sharing and leadership issues.
