Bharatiya Janata Party’s National Spokesperson Pradeep Bhandari has criticized the Congress and Samajwadi Party for supporting Pakistan’s view on the recent demolition of illegal structures near the Syed Faiz Elahi Mosque in Delhi. Bhandari accused the opposition parties of prioritizing vote bank politics over respecting India’s legal system and rule of law.
The controversy arose from the Delhi High Court’s order to clear illegal constructions around the mosque, leading to political discussions and protests. While the BJP defends the demolition as a lawful step mandated by the court, Congress and SP leaders have opposed the decision, citing concerns about community sentiments.
Bhandari highlighted that Pakistan’s foreign ministry also criticized the demolition, which the BJP sees as evidence that the opposition is echoing Pakistan’s stance. He accused Congress and SP of consistently undermining national interests by opposing legal and security measures.
The BJP spokesperson’s comments are expected to escalate political tensions before upcoming elections, with the ruling party positioning itself as the protector of national sovereignty and law, contrasting the opposition as catering to specific political interests. The demolition issue has become a focal point in the debate between nationalism and appeasement politics.
